Tusk (1979) is not an instantly accessible album. It took me close to 25 years to fully warm up to it, but I admit that I quite like it now. One thing that still annoys me at times is that many of Lindsey's songs were recorded largely by Lindsey himself, with little instrumental input from the band. The result is some songs that feature the signature rhythm section of Fleetwood and McVie, and others that obviously do not have that foundation (Lindsey's drumming in particular is very simple and un-Fleetwood-like). I like Lindsey's songs, but they sound out of step with the rest of the album. Still, Tusk holds an interesting place in Fleetwood Mac's history, and it is what it should be.

I couldn't agree with you more. The group songs are wonderful, Over and Over is one of my favorites ever. Lindsay's songs are great, but they don't quite scan with the rest of the album. But I like that. It was a sort of primer to Law & Order and Go Insane, if you will. And I love Lindsay's solo work!
